| HELP FOR THE ARTISTS Letter to the Editor written in response to an article published in the Star concerning non-payment of artists by some art galleries. Letter to the Editor It was fascinating to read your article concerning art galleries and non-payment of artists ("The Art of Getting Paid," April 22). I know all the artists mentioned in your article and have been aware of their frustration. That is why when we opened ARTichokes – we opened our doors March 30 – we set up the whole system through our Web site. Each artist can check daily via the Internet to see what has sold and for how much. Then we pay the artists once per month. The response from artists has been unbelievable. No longer do they have to stop by the gallery, check on inventory, beg for payment, etc. My partner, Rebecca Pashia, and I are both artists, so we tried to eliminate all the problems the artists face in trying to show and sell their work.
