| LEAWOOD MOM INSPIRES CREATIVITY IN KIDS Becky Pashia creates Scribble Shop – an interactive CD for young children NEWS RELEASE - Pashia got the idea for the Scribble Shop television series after directing creative workshops for children ages four through eight. Each episode revolves around a food item and contains an original song by Pashia and Bob Walkenhorst of The Rainmakers. All of these songs are on the CD, each with a different flavor from the 50's beat to Rap, Rock and Roll to Reggae, and much more. Each CD comes complete with drawing cards, words to the music, and one children's show that can be watched on the computer. Children are able to draw, pretend, sing, dance, laugh and learn right along with Pashia. Scribble Shop actually helps kids be creative! For example, in the Scribble Shop episode "banana" – Pashia encourages children to make banana splits, sing a song about a monkey in the jungle and draw a banana boat inspired by the shape of the banana. Kristin Erickson, a first grade teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District says that Scribble Shop is a perfect tool for the classroom. "One episode fueled creative projects in my classroom for an entire week. It is also extremely effective in promoting self-esteem." Pashia's goal is to teach children the value of an idea and enjoy the process of seeing that idea to completion. "In this time of rapid growing technology, it is my hope to remind people of the importance of ideas," she said. "Behind every great invention is imagination. I want children to feel free to explore their ideas and enjoy the process of developing them." Scribble Shop CD's are currently being sold at all local Borders bookstores, The Learning Tree, Reading Reptile, Brookside Dime Store, Brookside Toy and Science, Village Toy and Amazon.com.
