PASHIA ABSTRACTS
Ages:  18 - 100

Wednesdays, 7:00 - 9:00 pm

CLASS DATES:  APR 30, MAY 7, MAY 12, MAY 21

In this class, Becky Pashia, one of the ARTichokes owners, will guide students through her abstract painting process.  Using oil paints, palette knives, and brushes, students will get to try their hand at painting something with more feeling than subject matter.  Becky is known for her "moody" and vague landscapes, and is excited to help students create their own abstract image on canvas using light and color.

Each student will first practice techniques on a canvas board through some basic exercises, and will then work on a larger stretched canvas for the remaining lessons.  By the end of the four weeks, each student should have an abstract painting of their own.  No painting experience is necessary to take this class, just a very open mind.

All art supplies will be provided by ARTichokes & this cost is included in the enrollment fee.

Instructor: Rebecca Pashia
Minimum students per session: 5
Maximum students per session: 10
Cost for classes: $150.00, plus tax

About the Instructor

Rebecca Pashia is a founder and permanent artist of ARTichokes.  She was introduced to painting in high school, where her first painting, an acrylic still life of an artichoke and lemons, received the "Best of Show" and "Purchase Award" for the district art competition.

Today, Rebecca's paintings are mainly large abstracts and landscapes.  She paints the atmosphere surrounding the landscape, as well as simply the land forms, giving her paintings a moody and layered appearance.  She often begins working from a photo, but can never quite stick to it.  Eventually, her paintbrush and palette knife lead her on their own creative path.  Her paintings have a peaceful, spiritual nature, where the viewer can't help but take a deep breath and get lost in the canvas for a moment.

Rebecca has shown her paintings in numerous shows around Kansas City, and has created many commissioned pieces for businesses and residents.  More of her paintings can be seen at www.designbymotif.com.
