About the Artist

Artist Diane Boone was born in Kansas City, educated at the University of Missouri and The Kansas City Art Institute.  She studied with the late Frank Szaz and with Sarah Oblinger at The Paint or Die Studio.

"My paintings have a juxtaposition of color and line that can be compared to the off beat phrasing in music and dance.  I believe in the great joy of the seduction of color.  My approach is not particularly intellectual, formally trained, retrained or analytical.  I love to release the mind and allow it to channel creatively, not concerned with destination, allowing the feel and the composition freedom to change.

Inspiration is found in travels around the world with extended stays in Lyon, France and Negril, Jamacia and many points in between.  Weather it be Aspen or Weston, my eye is caught by the inherent beauty of nature.

An illusion of motion is created in my paintings as your eye travels from one point to another, seeking that elusive focal point.  Color is a key element – a broad palette of lively and warm colors is used with artistic strength.  Brush strokes are free, creating intuitive abstract landscape representations.
