About the Artist

What is seen by one may never be seen by another.  Expectations count enormously in details.  I strive to see beyond purpose and original form.   Everything I behold shows possibility of another use, another life.  Ever apparent is the history or story in objects   Give me rusted barbed wire and I will make a piece of jewelry out of it.  Now I would prefer that the barbed wire was from your great-grandfather’s farm or had some sentimental value for you, but if not that’s ok.

Our society disposes of so much that could be put to use some way.  I happen to incorporate it into jewelry.  I love the juxtaposition of semi-precious stones, sterling silver, copper or bronze with a printed circuit from the inside of a computer or a rusted bottle cap surrounded by pearls.  I may be a green-eyed blonde, but my Native American heritage surfaces in the presence of trade beads.  The many materials used to create them, the myriad of meanings they represent.  What I haven’t found in history books, I tend to invent for my own pleasure.

The older I am, the more mature I become.  Each of my pieces are “one-offs”.  The fleeting thought of doing more than one of anything makes me shudder.  I have too many ideas and designs waiting in the wings.
