About the Artist

I create my pieces using a skill called Embroidery Digitizing.  Once I sketch and color an image, I scan it into an Art Embroidery program.  Using this as a tool, I build the design stitch by stitch, placing every stitch.  With this technique I can create texture with density, layers, and stitch direction.  I like to think of this process as painting with stitches.  On average, I place 20,000 stitches per design.  This process can take up to ten hours for a design.  Once complete I then send it to my sewing machine which sews it according to how I placed the stitches.  Each image is sewn in a limited edition.  The backgrounds are painted in acrylic on high density cotton twill.

I make all of my own frames. Many of them are made from bits of reclaimed wood. Some of them I create from larger vintage frames which I re-size and further distress. I stain them to heighten the character and seal them with tung oil.

I have oodles of fun creating my pieces and I hope you like them also!
